Often referred to as a mutual fund giant, Michael Lee-Chin is the Executive Chairman of AIC Limited. It was in the 1970s that Michael emigrated to Canada from Jamaica to attend McMaster University. His first step into the financial sector was selling mutual funds and, in 1987, he bought AIC Limited, growing the company to become one of Canada's largest privately-held mutual fund companies. Michael's business interests have expanded over the years as has his philanthropy that locally has benefited McMaster University, the Burlington Arts Centre, Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital and the United Way of Burlington and Greater Hamilton. He was recognized as one of “Canada’s Heroes” by TIME magazine.
