Why Hamilton?
The City of Hamilton is one of Canada’s best kept secrets and a great place to live, work and play. Usually referred to as “Steeltown”, Hamilton is reinventing itself as a medical and research hub as evidenced by the new McMaster Innovation Park. The revitalization of the downtown core continues with the Central Library / Farmers’ Market project right at the heart.
Hamilton is a city of contradictions – it offers a mix of urban, suburban and rural – with a reasonable cost of living. The city’s diverse geography is defined by the Niagara Escarpment. Hamilton is a very green city with a breathtaking waterfront and becoming known as “City of Waterfalls” with over 60. Home to a world renowned university, McMaster, as well as Mohawk College and Redeemer University College, Hamilton offers unlimited educational opportunities.
A thriving arts scene is growing in the core along the James Street North corridor with regular Art Crawls and Art Bus tours. You can see a show at one of Hamilton’s many theatres, be entertained by the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra either at Central Library or Hamilton Place, or visit the nine museums or vast collection at the stunning Art Gallery of Hamilton. City residents are serious about their sports. We may not have an NHL team (yet!) but there are the Hamilton Bull Dogs and the beloved Hamilton Tiger Cats.
When it comes to Hamilton, it’s all about location, location, location. In close proximity to both Toronto and the U.S. border at Buffalo, Hamilton is easily accessible to major highways and one of the easiest airports to navigate, John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport which is served by WestJet.
