Politics in Hamilton
Board of Police
When Hamilton was incorporated as a Police Village in January of 1833 it became the Town of Hamilton. The first election was held March 4, 1833 and the Board of Police Commissioners was elected to govern the new town. They were replaced by Mayors and Aldermen when Hamilton was incorporated as a city in 1846.
