Librarians

Librarians perform all levels of information and reference services and must have proven experience developing and implementing services which include organization and presentation of electronic resources, web based guides, and online Find-it Guides to promote effective use of the Library’s materials and services.

 

In addition, Librarians are also required to oversee and instruct staff, coordinate and deliver library programming and special events, develop and maintain library collections, resolve complaints and participate in the delivery of public and staff training programs. Librarians are responsible for overseeing the department when the Manager is absent.

 

This position involves extensive interaction with the public and therefore requires that the successful candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

 

Requirements

 

Some of the requirements to be a Librarian are:

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Studies from an accredited Library School or Information Studies Program.
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office applications, online databases, Internet browsers and search engines.
  • Knowledge of materials, authors and resources in a variety of subject areas and formats is essential to this position.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to organize the workflow of self and others.
