HPL E-Commerce Website Refund Policy

All funds paid through the HPL e-commerce website will be applied to the oldest fine first (including lost items that are charged to your account).  In the event that a lost item is recovered after it has been paid for, our normal policy will apply, which is;

 

  • Borrowers are required to pay the replacement cost of a lost item and fines are waived.  However, if an item is returned after it has been paid for; borrowers are responsible for paying the calculated fine.
  • Items cannot be returned after eight (8) months of the original due date.  Borrower must pay the replacement cost and keep the item.
  • Hamilton Public Library does not accept substitutes for lost or damaged material.

In the event that any payments made on this web site require a refund call Customer Service at (905) 546-3200 x3442. Please always retain a receipt of your payments. Credit card purchases will only be refunded back to the original credit card used for the transaction. Identification, including but not limited to Library card, is required when processing returns.
